Love envieth not

I Corinthians 13 : 4

Love envieth not

There is so much to be envious about

The girl who married the right guy who plans incredible getaways (according to FB)

The guy who married the right girl who raves about their life (on FB)

The girl who got her education, stayed focused, got the good job, and depends on no one

The guy who rose to the top through 80 hour work weeks, aggressiveness, and knowing the right people

The skinny girl who eats all the time

The fat girl whose husband loves her anyway

All these people with their incredible lives

Maybe our envy shows what we truly value

Maybe God spoke against envy because he knew we were wasting our time

Maybe God knew that we might value the wrong stuff

Maybe God did not think we would even know what is true

Maybe God wanted us focused on our own wonderful gifts and blessings

Maybe envy is just a matter of where your eyes are focusing.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus

Look full in His wonderful face

And the things of earth

Will grow strangely dim

In the light of his glory and grace

  1. Excellent post. And something I definitely struggle with.

  2. Amen. Amen. Amen.

    Annnnnndddd Amen.

My BFF posts her vacation photos on FB often...I have to try hard to remember that it's not all rosy as FB.

  3. Such a powerful reminder. Thanks for this. Comparison is truly the thief of joy. And FB makes it so easy to fall into that trap. Today I'm going to look for what I'm grateful for, rather than what I wish I had. Thanks for the inspiration!
